What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a non invasive, holistic therapy based on the principle that reflexes or areas in the feet, hands and face relate to the internal organs and other structures of the body. Applying pressure to these points helps stimulate the body’s healing process and allows the recipient to achieve physical and emotional well being. There is evidence to show that reflexology was practiced as far back as ancient Egypt and China. It evolved in the West in 1913 when Dr William Fitzgerald, an American ear nose and throat surgeon noticed that pressure on specific areas of the body produced an anaesthetizing effect on a related area.
How does it work?
The feet and hands are home to thousands of nerve endings that then travel to the spinal chord and various parts of the body. Stimulating these nerve endings thereby helps promote relaxation, improve circulation, stimulate vital organs in the body and encourage the body’s natural healing processes.
How can reflexology help me?
Reflexology is suitable for all ages and can help bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
